Playful Stripes In Grey

I always enjoy seeing my patterns done up in different yarns and colorways.
A while back an Icelandic magazine published my Playful Stripes pattern and photographed it in this combination of colors.
I would have never thought that grey would ever work with peach or green... but it totally does! I loved this combination so much that I asked my wonderful Ravelry friend, Yaena, to knit up another Playful Stripes sample for me using these colors together.

Aren't these colors surprisingly beautiful?

If you'd like to knit up a sweater just like this you will need
Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino in these following colors.

[MC] Medium Grey #9
[CC1] Baby Green #3
[CC2] Soft Peach #5
[CC3] Off White #101
[CC4] Lilac #10

The pattern will specify how many you need of each skein for the size you want to make. The pattern can be found here.

I will be using this sample for a second trunk show display.
My first trunk show of samples is booked so far in advance now that I'm having another
set of samples knit up so that I can have 2 trunk shows traveling simultaneously.
This is a fun excuse for me to have my patterns knit up in different colorways to show some variety.

I think that one of the most fun things about this Playful Stripes pattern is picking out the colors.
Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino has such a great variety of beautiful colors to choose from. The possibilities are endless!

Another color combination that recently caught my attention was found on ravelry.com.
Click here to see. When I knit this sweater again, Id like to try these colors next. So cute!

You know what else is cute?

After the photo shoot, I caught Playful Stripes cuddling with Elijah the knitted elephant.
I quick snapped a picture while they weren't looking. :)

New and Improved Playful Stripes

The sweater I accidentally made too big for my daughter at the time? Yea.. that one.

The Playful Stripes cardigan.

Well, I tried the sweater on my daughter again during this past winter
and it actually fits quite well this year!

She, at 4 years old, can finally now wear a size 3!

Now that the sweater fits well, I decided to rephotograph this piece and add the new and improved pictures to the pattern.
While I was at it I also decided to get the pattern layout redesigned...
then I figured that as long as I was having the entire pattern redone, a few numbers should be reworked as well.
One thing just led to another. :)

I'm happy to present to you the new and improved Playful Stripes pattern. The pattern is now beautifully redesigned (by a professional graphic designer) with original artwork and illustrations. There is a full sizing schematic now included which should prove very helpful, and there has also been some refinements made to the fit of the garment.

Here is the pattern information to those of you who are interested in knitting this design:

This really is a fun little sweater to make. It's knit from the bottom up in one piece and the striped yoke is so addicting! That part went so fast for me. I just wanted to keep adding one more color to see what it would look like.. it went by in a flash!

I certainly hope that you enjoy it too!

Still Knitting...

Life has recently thrown us some unexpected surprises as sometimes life does. One change that has caused some stress recently is our moving houses, and figuring out exactly where all of that yarn of mine is going to fit. :)

But I'm still here working and knitting.

Here is my latest design project.. almost done! Well.. On my end anyways...
there is still the business of test knitting, tech editing, and pattern layout.
It takes a team to get a pattern published!

This is my first adult garment and I'm awfully excited about it!
Expect to see it around the first of June.

Also.. check out this wonderfully cheery new yarn I got in the mail yesterday..

There's nothing like brightly colored yarn to cheer a person up, right?
I have a little design project in mind for this one as well and I can't wait to get going on it.

This yarn is part of an exciting new line that I know a lot of knitters have been talking about.
I'll be sharing a review of it in my next podcast episode!

Never Not Knitting Window Display At Loops!

This is so cool I just had to share it with you!

A few weeks back Shelley, the owner of Loops yarn shop in Tulsa Oklahoma, asked my permission to use my Haltermelon and Cedar Leaf Shawlette pattern pictures for a front window display for her shop.
Of course I said YES!

Above are the pictures she sent me of her new window displays.

You can't tell from the pictures but these photo banners are 4 feet across by 6 feet tall!
How awesome! I so wish that I could see the displays in real life!

I cant tell you how amazing it feels to have a yarn shop prominently feature my designs like this.
It truly is an honor! Thank you Shelley!

If you live close by, please check out Loops! You can find more info about the shop by clicking here. Loops stocks all of the
Never Not Knitting designs in print if you'd like to see my patterns in person.

Cosette In Malabrigo

I just wanted to share with you this lovely version of my Cosette Wrap knit out of Malabrigo Worsted.
This was made up by my lovely friend Claire to be included in the Never Not Knitting trunk show.

What a wonderfully cozy sample this is. Malabrigo Worsted is such a soft wool and reasonably priced as well!
The body of the wrap is knit in the Paris Night colorway and the edging is in Polar Moon.

If your local yarn shop is on my trunk show schedule, you'll get to try on this cozy wrap for yourself!

New Socks

I'm knitting myself some new socks! They are really fun too!
The pattern is the Snicket Socks pattern and can be found for free here.

Of course I am using my lovely "Never Not Knitting Green" Wool Candy
yarn to make this project.

I just love the way it looks knitted up. The shades are blending very well in my opinion.
The little bit of variegation makes it almost look like its sparkling.

I cannot wait to wear them!

Psssttt.. The "NNK Green" limited edition colorway is now SOLD OUT!
But you can still preorder it here if you'd like to snag some for yourself from the next dye batch!

Episode 33

Dindy Beret

One hat out of the Thistle yarn wasn't enough,
So I made this sweet little hat for my daughter out of 2 balls of the Old Rose colorway.

The pattern is the Dindy Beret by Kate Oates of TotToppers.

What a cute little hat this is. The leafy border is such a nice detail.

I made a few modifications for my daughter's version.
The pattern calls for 2 adorable body styles, but I chose to leave her hat plain on the top.
Also I knit the leafy band with a size 7 needle, and the body in a size 8 which created a slightly slouchier look.

I love the swirly decrease pattern and the bobble on top.
The small little details really add to the design.

If you like this hat, check out Kate's blog here.
She has a ton of great hat designs for adults and children.

For all of the great photos I get of my daughter, there are twice as many...
uh... uncooperative photo taking experiences. :)

It seems that the more of a deadline I am under with the photo taking,
the goofier my 4 year old gets during our photoshoots.

But I will get my revenge someday.. these will be great to show at her high school graduation party,
or if she ever has a boyfriend that I don't like.

Cute hat though!

16-Sixteen Cable Hat

I just had the pleasure of knitting the 16 cable beret by Circe Belles Boucles.
What an amazing pattern!

The pattern is simple, quick and not fussy at all..
There are only 4 cable crosses in the whole hat!

I love these how these over sized dramatic cables look..

Such a fun knit!

I made a few minor modifications to my version. I made the largest slouchiest version and added one extra cable cross before decreasing. I just felt that it should be there.

Also I eliminated some of the plain knit rounds in the decrease portion.

I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Its so soft and cushy and WARM.

Perfection.

The lovely yarn I have to thank for making this hat possible is Louisa Harding Thistle.
It offers a truly decadent knitting experience.

This hat took 3 balls, but if you were to make the smaller version,
you could definitely squeeze this pattern out of 2.
I just barely had to dip into that 3rd ball of yarn.

Check out my latest podcast episode to hear more about this yarn and
how to enter to win both yarn and pattern!
